Week 3, Exercise #7 anything technology related

I am using this blog as a learning tool. More for thinking out loud, and helping me to synthesize the new material I am learning.

Blog post about anything technology related.

Two things:

Number 1:

I have an LCD and projection screen for my library, but I do not have a TV with a DVD player. I do have a DVD player on my circulation computer. I often use my LCD hooked up to my circ. computer to show students how to use our OPAC; demonstrating the difference between Keywords and Subject words. At the last AASL conference, I purchased some DVDs.

When I got back to school, I figured I could play the DVDs on my circ. computer through the LCD onto the projection screen for students to see. I couldn't figure out how to get the sound up on my computer so everyone could hear. With a little fiddling and experimenting, I was able to take a set of speakers from one of the OPAC computers and hook them up to the circ. computer. I am now able to show DVDs over the circ. computer for everyone to see. I turn off the lights, and its like a movie theatre, without the popcorn. This week is the last week before Christmas. I am showing Patrica Polacco's Christmas Tapestry.

Number 2:
OpenId
I have read the blogbuz several times about OpenId. I am still trying to figure out what they are talking about. I guess I need more blog experiences in order to comprehend whether to move in that direction. OpenId-everyone can see it and comment on it now? I need to sift this through my mind again. Is that something I even want?
